Red Hot + Rio 2
The Red Hot Organization and Entertainment One Music establish a new partnership to produce Red Hot + Rio 2, a contemporary take on the late 60s Brazilian Tropicália movement. The album will shed new light to the songs of this influential, politically charged era, which changed the culture of the country forever, and continues to act as a beacon to countless creative and alternative musicians around the world. Its also the natural successor to the 1996 original, bossa nova inspired Red Hot + Rio. That legendary album has sold nearly a million copies worldwide. More importantly, the original Red Hot +Rio literally altered the course of Brazilian popular music at the turn of this century, inspiring many, if not all, of the younger artists who have contributed to this new project. Red Hot + Rio 2 is the latest entry in the series of tribute albums produced by the Red Hot Organization to raise money for HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention. The compilation features 34 original collaborations between Brazils legendary musicians and some of the best of todays international indie, R&B, and pop artists, including: Alice Smith, Aloe Blacc, Angelique Kidjo, Apollo Nové, Beck, Beirut, Brazilian Girls, Caetano Veloso, Carlinhos Brown, Céu, David Byrne, Devendra Banhart, DJ Dolores, Eugene Hutz of Gogol Bordello, Forró In The Dark, Javelin, John Legend, José González, Los Van Van, Madlib, Marisa Monte, Mayra Andrade, Mia Doi Todd, Money Mark, of Montreal, Os Mutantes, Rita Lee, Tha Boogie, Tom Zé, Trio Mocotó & Seu Jorge.,
